UKAS and other accreditation bodies around the world, which have been evaluated by peers as competent, have signed an arrangement that enhances the acceptance of products and services across national and international borders.
The purpose of this arrangement, the ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA), (often referred to as the ILAC Arrangement) is to create an international framework to support international trade through the removal of technical barriers.
It means that overseas firms and consumers who do business with Cansford in the future, can be reassured of:
- Greater confidence and trust for businesses and consumers who depend on the accuracy of test, calibration and inspection
- Know that facilities assessed through the scheme are competent to carry out these specific activities
- By insisting that the calibration, test, or inspection results are from an accredited facility, they can be confident the facility has been assessed by an independent accreditation body, that itself has been recognised as meeting international standards of competence
ILAC is committed to its goal of achieving the principle of products and services being “tested or inspected once, accepted everywhere”, which Cansford Managing Director, Kim Bagley wholeheartedly supports.

“Having the ILAC gold standard means we are able to bolster our accreditation and join other laboratories around the globe in supporting the international framework. This is also part of improvements we do through UKAS.”
Cansford currently operates not just in the UK, but also France, Germany, Spain, Brazil and Australia among others.
