Many labs rely on basic screening tests that only detect the parent drug group. These tests typically only provide a yes or no result. At Cansford, we use confirmation analysis; testing for the parent drugs and their metabolites. This provides a quantifiable result, giving a complete picture. Because of this we can confidently answer common questions like, ‘can the use of medication X cause a false positive on a drug test?’.
Our precise method ensures we only detect the substances we’re testing for, so medications that don’t match these molecules won’t interfere with our results.

Our drug panels
We offer two panels designed to give you confidence in your decisions. The Common 9 panel provides reliable coverage of the most frequently encountered substances, giving you a clear picture of recent drug use.
For situations where you need a more comprehensive view, our Extended 18 panel tests for additional substances, including antidepressants, antipsychotics, and less commonly detected opioids.
With the E-18 panel, you get double the coverage of the C-9 panel at no extra cost, without any impact on our three-day turnaround time. This allows you to make informed decisions quickly, with results you can trust, every time.
Our process
The process requires only a small sample of hair, usually taken from the scalp or body. It’s quick, non-invasive, and highly accurate.
We follow the Society of Hair Testing’s guideline that 1cm of scalp hair growth represents approximately one month. This allows us to segment the hair and map out a timeline of use, giving a month-by-month breakdown.
When scalp hair isn’t available, body hair can be used, and failing that, nail clippings.
