Accurate immigration DNA testing for official & legal matters
The science behind the result
Immigration DNA testing works by comparing the genetic profiles of individuals to establish a biological relationship, most commonly between a parent and child, though other family relationships can also be tested. Up to 45 genetic markers are analysed as standard, producing a statistically robust result that clearly confirms or excludes the claimed relationship.
Every aspect of the process is carried out to the standard required for official submission, from sample collection through to the final report.
How immigration dna testing works
Sample collection is quick and completely painless. A cheek swab is rubbed gently on the inside of the cheek to collect DNA from each person participating. Where participants are located in different countries, we can advise on collection arrangements to ensure the process is handled correctly regardless of where individuals are based.
Chain of custody is maintained throughout. Every sample is collected and documented in a way that satisfies the requirements of the relevant authorities, so there are no gaps in the evidence trail that could compromise your case.
When Immigration DNA testing is needed
Immigration DNA testing is required when documentary evidence alone is not sufficient to establish a biological relationship for the purposes of a visa or immigration application. This includes family reunification cases, applications for British citizenship or a passport based on a parental relationship, and situations where a claimed family connection is being assessed as part of an immigration decision.
If you are unsure whether DNA testing is required or appropriate for your specific situation, our team can help you understand your options before anything is instructed.

DNA FAQs
Samples are collected by swabbing the inside of the donor’s cheek, using a sterile applicator.
DNA tests are used to confirm the relationship of one donor to another. In most instances, DNA tests are used to confirm whether donor is the father of another. DNA tests may also be used to prove maternity and sibling relationships.
We understand that timelines matter in immigration cases. Results are typically returned within 3–5 working days of all samples reaching the lab, and we’ll keep everyone informed throughout.
